We are on a mission to unlock liquidity and bring efficiency to IBC Network users, enabling them to leverage their virtual assets with max efficiency in an interoperable environment.

Mission Log 1101 /// Liquid Staking Derivatives
In the past few years the crypto space has seen incredible growth. Further adoption of Proof of Stake (PoS) networks & decentralized finance (DeFi) had been 2 fronts that had fueled this growth. In Proof of Stake networks security of the network is maintained by staked native assets. Therefore the more assets staked, the more secure the network. While this structure increases the security of the network, it also sucks up a very valuable resource: Liquidity. As more and more native assets get staked, more secure the network becomes but as a result, also more illiquid, and vice versa.
This dilemma requires an innovative approach to tackle liquidity and security problems at once, with one integrated solution. That’s why we came up with the Selenian Protocol, a more efficient decentralized finance platform built on the concept of staking derivatives to maximize liquidity and efficiency across the IBC Ecosystem.
The backbone of the Cosmos ecosystem, IBC allows blockchains to talk to each other and settles transfers across different sovereign blockchains. We chose Cosmos ecosystem to leverage Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC) for seamless transfer of assets across platforms with the lowest amount of dependence on centralized bridges. Frustrated by using centralized bridges and the risk of losing funds in search of better yields, by either being forced to use multiple different wallets or to constantly switch networks in Metamask, we were fascinated by the seamless user experience of moving tokens across blockchains with IBC and Interchain accounts. Therefore we decided to set our basecamp at IBC, at the heart of interoperability.
When starting for this set of crypto asset management tools, we wanted to start with the base of all. Liquid Staking Derivatives. Unlocking liquidity & efficiency for the network while creating a constant demand for the native token through autocompounding staking rewards. We will be starting our first staking derivative with Secret Network $SCRT & will start serving other ecosystem giants like Juno & More in the near future.
When using Selenian Protocol to stake your SCRT (or other Cosmos SDK blockchain) on the underlying network, users will receive a dSCRT, which represents their staked asset on the underlying blockchain network. Users can then bridge these tokens using IBC and use their dAssets in all IBC powered DeFi protocols. In the next phases of our expansion, we will develop DeFi tools to better leverage these dTokens to maximize your yield.
Selenian Protocol will initially allow staking derivatives on Secret Network and soon to expand to new CosmWasm enabled environments such as Juno, Osmosis and other. Selenian Protocol will build on this strong basis and with the goal of going multichain and increasing its bandwidth with more partnerships through IBC as we roll out our suite of IBC DeFi Primitives.
